raising chickens is fun, fowl visions on raising chickens

Finally got my husband to temporarily put the incubator back together so I can share pictures of it. He did not put the bottom back in it so you do not see the trays that hold the water for humidity or the mesh wire shelf that the eggs lay upon.

Here it is:

Exterior Leahy IncubatorLeahy Manufacturing IncubatorLeahy incubatorLeahy incubator

As you can see in the picture, the light is on indicating it is running. Because of the condition of the insides, I probably will not utilize for the original purpose but will display it in my future country farm home. I have big plans!!! I can visualize it now, one huge room, homey with a warm inviting kitchen and my incubator and miscellaneous chicken items all over the place. As Martin Luther King said, “I have a dream!”

I have a Lehy unit for sale. None turner a hathcer model with five shelves works great for the past four years. I am no need of such a big unit as I have scaled down to only two breeds and using brahmas to sit on my eggs. If interested I can send you pictures and can ship the incubator by truck to your home. Rich, I have no idea of the value of the redwood incubator. I still have mine but have never used it. From what others have written I think it is probably very dependable.

  12. Hi Everyone,

I have two Redwood Incubators. A Leahy 426 in completely restored condition. The other is a Brower (manufactured by Leahy) model 626 I think. Five trays and a hatcher. It still needs work, but I’m almost done with it.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET OR HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR THE BACKSIDE OF THE FRONT OF THE BROWER???? PLEASE!!!! IT IS THE TYPE POWER BOX THAT HAS TWO PORCELAIN SCREW SOCKETS, ONE FOR A LIGHT AND ONE FOR A 20AMP FUSE. IF YOU HAVE THIS UNIT AND DON’T HAVE A WIREING DIAGRAM, COULD YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF THE INSIDE OF THE BOX AND SURROUNDING AREA, I COULD POSSIBLY TAKE IT FROM THERE.

Wow stumbled on this thread searching for sales info on the #624. Why, because I have one that we used to use to hatch bantams and occasional rescued phesant eggs ( neighbor mowing would hit setting phesant hens so would stop collect eggs and put them in the incubator). But it has been sitting unused for 20 years. I would like to sell it to some one who would appreciate the supreiority of a Redwood unit. There are several egg wires and turning rod. Needs cleaning, indicator bulb and a waffer. I do have a manual for it
We are located in Maryland. fredak@yahoo.com

Wow great thread. I stumbled upon it today looking for #624 sales records. I have a Leahy #624 that we used to hatch bantams and the occasional rescued pheasant nest ( rescued by local farmer when he hit nests while mowing). I want to sell if anyone is interested. I have several wire egg racks and a wire turner that turns one tray at a time, needs cleaning and a new wafer. I am located in Maryland, fredak@yahoo.com
