My most recent visitor to my “front yard” is an American Swallow-tailed Kite. This bird is as large as a hawk and beautiful.
These pictures aren’t the greatest but the photographer is not the greatest and I have to say the same about the camera. But it works so that counts for something.
From what I have read about this bird it breeds mainly on or near coasts from Texas east to Florida, and north to South Carolina; it is local farther inland in Gulf States. If I have heard the sound of the bird I do not know it.
I have seen this bird many times throughout our area but never this close to my yard. It actually dove at one of the Blue Jays while flying over our trees.

Woohoo! I’d love to spot one of those overhead!!
