I met the buyer the other day and the first thing he asked my husband was to show him the blueberry bushes that I made the blueberry muffins from. What I did was made the blueberry muffins fresh that day and put a plate out with a note telling the visitor to enjoy the muffins made from the blueberries in the backyard. They made an offer that day.
A friend of mine had told me to bake something for the viewers of your home. They always love the personal touch and the smell enhances the homey feeling. I guess she was right! The realtor told me they were the best muffins she had ever eaten!
I will miss these blueberry bushes but we are in the process of relocating to seven acres so I think I will have plenty of room to grow more. I have plans for a lot of different things. I want grapes like Dons from A View from the Green Barn, learn to cook like Suzanne at Chickens in the Road (and stay the same size as her while consuming the goods), and learn how to can like Farm Chick Paula at the Fraker Farm…wait a minute! I have gone too far, canning seems more like work than fun so I think I’ll pass on that. Sorry Paula, I will leave that up to you.
If all goes as expected, I will be closing on my seven-acre homestead next Friday. I will be Queen of My Double-wide Trailer.
I loved that song by Sammy Kershaw but never thought I would living it. Our plan is to live in it while we build our future farmhouse. But no matter if it is a double-wide, single-wide, or a tent, I am getting excited at the prospect. My chickens won’t know what to do with all that extra room!
The down side of all of this is that my husband left yesterday for Texas for 11 days so I will be moving everything without him. I have a 20-year old at home and a 26-year old not too far away (both sons), so I do have help but it is just not the same without my husband taking care of the move. Between the tractor, backhoe, three cars in the backyard, chicken coops, and household stuff…my head is swimming!
So if I am not as diligent as normal, it is because we are moving. But I will be back strong within a couple of weeks but for now I will be focusing on packing, moving, and making sure I have DSL at my next home!

Ooooh I can’t wait to see the new homestead!!!! I’m so excited for you!!
And if you grow enough stuff in your garden at your new place, you’ll definitely WANT to can- especially when there is no more room in your freezer!! LOL
